Subject: Clarification regarding reimbursement of transportation of Conveyance on transfer when vehicle is not registered in the name of staff/officer.
The instructions regarding revision in the rates of Travelling Allowance consequent upon decision taken by the Government on the recommendations of the Seventh Central Pay Commission relating to Travelling Allowance were circulated by Ministry of Railways vide letter No. F(E)/2017/AL-28/41, dated 24.08.2017.Best vacation packages
As regards TA entitlements on transfer, Para-3.D. of Annexure to the above mentioned letter No. F(E)/2017/AL-28/41, dated 24.08.2017 provides that reimbursement of charges on transportation of conveyance as admissible under Rules may be provided.
However, a doubt has been raised by one of the Railways as to whether reimbursement of charges on transportation of conveyance is admissible only when the vehicle is registered exclusively in the name of officer or it can be considered when vehicle is owned by one of the parents of the officer or his/her spouse.
The matter has been examined in Board’s office in consultation with Ministry of Finance (Department of Expenditure) and it is clarified that the reimbursement of charges on transportation of conveyance on transfer would be admissible for the vehicle possessed by the employee.
This also disposes of Central Railway’s letter No. CRHQOPERS(PGPF)/8/2024, dt. 11.07.2024.
