Sub: Modification in Tatkal scheme.
With a view to ensure that the benefits of the Tatkal scheme are reaped by the common end user, it has been decided that:-
i. With effect from 01-07-2025, tickets under Tatkal Scheme can be booked through the website of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)/its app only by Aadhaar authenticated users. Subsequently, Aadhaar based OTP authentication shall also be made compulsory for the tatkal booking from 15-07-2025.
ii. Tatkal tickets shall be available for booking through computerized PRS counters of Indian Railways/authorized agents only after authentication of a system generated OTP which shall be sent through the system on the mobile number furnished by the user at the time of booking. This shall also be implemented by 15-07-2025.
iii. Authorised ticketing agents of Indian Railways shall not be allowed to book opening day Tatkal tickets during the first thirty minutes of opening of Tatkal booking for AC as well as non AC classes i.e. they shall not be allowed to book opening day Tatkal tickets from 1000 hours to 1030 hours for air-conditioned classes and from 1100 hours to 1130 hours for non-air-conditioned classes.
2. CRIS & IRCTC shall make necessary modifications in the system accordingly under intimation to all zonal Railways as well as this office.
3. Wide publicity through all possible means shall be given to above modifications for information of general public.
4. Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned accordingly.
