Sub: Duty of Supervisory category Staff in MMCT Division.

Ref: RBE No.131/2005 circulated under Railway Board letter No.E(LL)2001/HER/9 dtd. 09-8-2005 in reference to G.S.R.75 dtd. 28-2-2005.

With reference to above, supervisory staff come under Excluded category. Therefore as per Railway servants Hours of Employment Rules 1951, Excluded staff shall be given at least one period of rest of 48 consecutive hours in a month or one period of 24 consecutive hours rest in each fortnight.

The word at least used in Railway servants Hours of Employment Rules 1951 implies that if an excluded staff (whose duty hours are not fixed) cannot be granted weekly rest for what so ever reason, he should be granted 24 hrs rest fortnightly or 48 hrs rest monthly. This does not imply that they can not avail weekly rest of 24 consecutive hrs under normal circumstances. Therefore supervisory staff can avail weekly rest of 24 hrs under normal circumstances.
