Railway Board Order Regarding Retention of Railway accommodation

Sub: Retention of Railway accommodation by officers/staff on deputation to Railway PSUs (KMRCL, RailTel, KRCL, IRCTC, IRCON, RVNL & MRVC) beyond 31.03.2023.

In terms of Board's letter No. E(G) 2021 RN 2-2 dated 01.07.2022, retention of Railway accommodation at previous place of posting by officials on deputation to Railway PSUs was permitted up to 31.03.2023.

2. Now, in exercise of the powers vested in it to make reasonable relaxations in public interest for a class/ group of employees in all or any of the provisions regarding house allotment/ retention, the Full Board have decided that retention of Railway accommodation at previous place of posting by Railway officers/staff on deputation to Railway PSUs (viz. KMRCL, RailTel, KRCL, IRCTC, IRCON, RVNL & MRVC) and in occupation of Railway accommodation in areas other than Delhi/NCR may be permitted for a further period of two years beyond 31.03.2023 i.e. up to 31.03.2025 subject to the following:

(i) Railway PSUs would provide leased accommodation to the officers of concerned Railways, for all houses retained by PSUs, as per officer's choice according to Railway priority list, at the rate of lease entitlement for corresponding grade of officers of PSUs. However, if leased accommodation is not being utilized by the Railways, an amount equivalent to leased accommodation or HRA of the officer retaining the accommodation, whichever is higher may be deposited with concerned Zonal Railways by PSUs.

(ii) Deposition by 30.06.2024 of amount equivalent to leased accommodation or HRA of the officers (along with arrears till date) retaining the accommodation, whichever is higher, with concerned Zonal Railway by PSUs who have not provided leased accommodation to the Zonal Railways.

3. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
