Scholarship for higher education to children of non-gazetted employees

CIRCULAR

Sub: Scholarship for higher education to children of non-gazetted employees of Railway Board from Staff Benefit Fund for the year 2023-24 (Academic Session 2022-23).

Applications were called for vide Board's circular of even number dated 01.12.2023 to award scholarship for higher technical/professional education to the children of non-gazetted employees of Board's office @ 1,500/- per month from Railway Board Staff Benefit Fund for the academic session 2022-23 as mentioned below:

1. Children of staff above Level-4.    -   12

2. Girl children of staff upto Level-4  - 11

3. Male children of staff upto Level-4.   -10

However, in view of insufficient applications received in respect of S.Nos. 2 and 3 above, it has been decided to re-circulate the same for employees of Board's office upto Level-4.

2. The modalities for awarding the scholarship would be as follows:

a. The term higher education shall mean all post-graduate/degree/diploma programmes of not less than one year from Institutes/Universities. recognized

b. The student should not be in receipt of any financial assistance from the Institution where he/she may be studying or from any other source. For the purpose, the child will be required to produce a certificate from his/her respective Institution that he/she is not in receipt of any scholarship from that Institution or any other source.

c. On availing benefit under this scheme, any other similar benefit underS.B.F. will not be permissible.

d. The payment of the scholarship amount shall be made through an account payee cheque in the name of the child.

e. The scholarship will be given to only one child of an employee and staff in lower Level in the Pay Matrix shall be given preference.

f. The scholarship will be limited to the year for which it is being given.

g. If the number of applications received is more, the awardees will be decided on the basis of merit.

3. All the non-gazetted employees of Railway Board upto Level-4 are eligible to apply for the said scholarship. They may fill their applications alongwith a certificate from the Head of the Institution in which the child is studying in the pro forma available on Railnet at RB(W) site under Secretary's Branches and submit the same to RB(W) Branch, Room No. 501-A, Rail Bhavan latest by 03.06.2024. Also, before submitting original copy of complete set, single e-receipt should be generated and required to be forwarded to SO/RB(W) through e-office.
